What is it?

The Rachel Harness is smart, fun, light weight and enables a child or adult to build their confidence when standing or sitting and can be worn all day, as a jacket

The Rachel Harness was designed and released on to the Market in 2002 and was originally inspired by a little boy called Oliver who wanted to be included in play and floor tasks at school but needed the extra security that a hoist harness would allow. The Rachel harness was designed not to replace a sling but to provide a solution which would encourage natural patterns of movement, improve standing tolerance, be used in rehabilitation and reduce handling.

Studies have shown that developing motor ability in children with disabilities has a direct effect on their life span. The benefits of physical activity encouraged by the Rachel Harness can improve muscle strength, muscle function and aerobic capacity.

Research has supported the notion that strength is directly related to motor function; strengthening programs focusing on the lower extremities have been shown to improve functional abilities such as walking and have been used over recent years particularly in strength programs for those with Cerebral Palsy.

The Rachel Harness provides an additional layer of safety for those end-users who have are using a strength training program focusing on the lower extremities.

Disabled adults and children benefit from improved balance, motion control, joint movement, coordination and improves quality of life and feelings of well-being. This hugely popular hoist-able jacket has a quick clip-on, clip-off tape attachment allows the caregiver to quickly attach the user to the hoist if required, no need to worry about children who do not want to sit still long enough for a sling or harness to be applied. Manufactured in a high density open weave mesh, durable and can be used for bathing as drains freely and is quick drying.

Ideal for communal activities and play, the Rachel Harness is a more inclusive transfer/support aid specifically designed to give young end users independence, allow for physical rehabilitation and develops social skills. Perfect for schools, residential care and homecare.

Detachable tapes allow for hoisting to take place without impeding the end user’s ability to play once transferred. Is also perfect for parents who are unable to lift their child themselves, promoting independent transfers.

Bathing Cradle Review

Hi Andrew

We have had a really exciting day today: our pupil has tried the Shower Cradle in the pool and it is absolutely amazing!! We set it up this morning with the rolls and headrest ect and the pupil has just been in the water independently for the first time with the TA beside and not needing to hold on to support at all.

we have shown it to lots of staff and will now start assessing other pupils to see how many more would benefit from using the cradle. it is so adaptable with the adjustable mesh/tilt feature and the different loops to hoist it into the water and it will make such a difference to our less mobile pupils.

Parent of Blind 10yo Child

“Being 10yrs old, blind unable to talk or walk would be enough to moan about for most…yet our daughter didn’t moan…until we got the Durance Junior chair.!!

She loves it so much that unless we get her out of her wheelchair, after school or hospital trips and into her comfy Durance Junior she wont stop moaning…she loves it.

Great personalised service were the customers needs are put first…Many other companies would do well to learn from Andrew at ambre-stone”
